Communication Therapy & Consultation Services

We offer communication therapy (speech therapy) services that support both verbal and nonverbal communication in children and adults.  Our services are rendered by a state licensed and ASHA certified speech-language pathologist and include:

  • AAC assessment and intervention  (see below for more information about AAC)
  • Early language stimulation  for children ages birth through 5 years at risk for speech and language delays, such as those with developmental disabilities and Autism
  • Parent education on language stimulation using the Hanen Centre's It Takes Two to Talk program and similar evidenced based early intervention techniques
  • Caregiver and professional training on AAC and other assistive technology that supports communication, learning, and daily living
  • Intensive therapy program
  • Community workshops for parents and childcare professionals on a variety of child development topics

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Services

AAC is an essential tool in supporting children and adults who struggle to communicate independently and successfully using only verbal language.  

These individuals may include those living with

  • Autism

  • Cerebral Palsy 

  • Apraxia 

  • ALS

  • Aphasia resulting from stroke or other brain injury

  • Traumatic brain injury affecting verbal speech and/or language production

Seattle AAC offers quality, comprehensive services to support children and adults with limited or no verbal communication.  Our Services include:

  • Assessment of communication needs in all daily living environments
  • Collaboration with professionals supporting children and adults with complex communication challenges, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and classroom teachers
  • In-home and community consultation with families to assess and support communication barriers and potential solutions
  • Assistance identifying and developing effective augmentative communication systems for each individual
  • Education and training on augmentative communication systems and teaching strategies for families and professionals through private consultations and group meetings/classes
  • Early intervention services for children ages birth to 3 to establish supportive communication systems at critical stages of development

All services are conducted by a licensed and ASHA certified speech-language pathologist with clinical expertise in using augmentative communication tools and strategies for successful communication at home, at school, and in the community. Services may be obtained on site and online to meet the needs of individuals and families.
