Following an Initial AAC Tech Consultation or an AAC Program Review session, families can connect for ongoing coaching sessions to obtain further training and guidance using AAC tools and strategies. Sessions can be conducted onsite or online through a secure platform. Coaching sessions are tailored to an individualized plan developed by the coach with the family and educational team. Session length varies based on needs and availability. Families can opt for a la carte coaching sessions on a session to session basis, or save money and maximize support with one of our quality, affordable coaching subscription packages.

What to Expect Before Your Session

• You will need an Initial AAC Tech Consultation or an AAC Program Review prior to initiating AAC Coaching in order to establish a coaching plan.

Once you are scheduled, your coach will share important information about your session through Google Drive and email, including your appointment details and your session link (if your session is a virtual session).

What to Expect During Your Session

Your onsite coaching session must be scheduled for a minimum of 60 minutes. Your online coaching session may be scheduled for 30 minutes or longer, based on your needs. Sessions can happen at a frequency that supports your needs. Your session will be individualized to your needs and those of your AAC learner, but will generally include the following activities:

• Check in to establish needs and set goals for your session that best support your family right now.

• Observation of interactions between you or other primary partners and your child, live or via video review, as appropriate.

• Demonstration of communication support strategies and other relevant topics as they relate to your coaching goals and the needs of your learner and family. Demonstration may take place via role play between you and your coach, and/ or direct interactions between your coach and your learner as you observe.

• Discussion and feedback regarding live or video reviewed interactions within which you are engaging with your learner using strategies demonstrated by your coach.

• Digital resources to supplement your hands-on practice, demonstration, and role-playing with your coach. These may include videos, webinars, handouts, websites, or other resources as appropriate to your coaching needs.

What to Expect After Your Session

• A brief, written summary of your coaching session with action steps and resources included.

• An email check in one 3 days after your session.
