Families who are enrolled in AAC Coaching services can add 1:1 AAC Tutoring services for their learner at a frequency that meets their needs.  Sessions are conducted online through a secure platform.  AAC Tutoring sessions are tailored to an individualized plan developed by the coach,  with the family and team.  Each session is a one-to-one teaching experience aimed at engaging the learner to develop skills across applicable areas of development.

What to Expect Before Each Session

• Once you are scheduled, your coach will share important information about your session through Google Drive and email, including your appointment details and your Zoom link.  

• Your coach will share a learning plan prior to your session to help you and your child prepare. 

What to Expect During Each Session

Your learner’s online tutoring session will be tailored to his/her individual needs and your family’s priorities which are established prior to the session during an AAC Coaching visit.  Depending on your learner’s age and needs, it may be most appropriate for you to be present during part or all of the tutoring session.  Generally, the session will include the general structure:

• Your coach will greet your learner and establish mutual expectations in a manner that suits his/her learning needs.  

• Your learner will participate in Interactive, multimedia activities designed to teach and practice the target areas outlined in your learner’s plan.  Activities will emphasize modeling language with your learner’s AAC device or system.  

• Your coach will prepare a send-off for your learner that includes a recap of their participation and progress and a plan for continued practice at home. Provided in a manner that suits your learners needs. 

What to Expect After Each Session

Within 24 hours of your learner’s tutoring session:

• You will receive a  brief, written summary of your learner's tutoring session with action steps and resources included.

• Your coach will touch on session progress during a subsequent AAC Coaching session with you.  

• If you have consented to session recording, a recording of your learner’s session will be shared with you.  Recordings can be a helpful way to share strategies and progress with family members and others on your learner’s team.
